After World War II handbags got a new look – different fashion houses including Saint Laurent moved away from elegance and inched towards a more cool and edgy look that was sexier and darker than before. The handbag lines at Saint Laurent were originally worked on by two women – Madame Leroux and Madame Perrin – and not Yves Saint Laurent himself. The two found inspiration in contemporary trends and worked with different materials to come up with lines that were instantly recognizable as Saint Laurent.

This way of thinking and designing is still prominent at Saint Laurent today as the Saint Laurent dna is still very prominent in the wallets designed by the house.
